Nutritional Wellness

Flourish strives to equip low-income individuals and families with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to eat well. This organization offers cooking and nutrition classes, as well as individualized wellness coaching to promote healthy eating in daily life.

The Carolina Hunger Initiative hosts FREE virtual Cooking Matters education lessons every Wednesday evening in both English and Spanish. The lessons are centered around buying healthy and affordable food that families can prepare and share together at home. The classes take place via Zoom on Wednesdays at 7pm.

The IFC Community Kitchen provides free hot meals available for take-out to all community members every day of the week. Additionally, the IFC has a Community Market open on an appointment basis to provide Chapel Hill/Carrboro community members with pantry staples and personal hygiene products.

TABLE is a Carrboro-based non-profit organization that provides hunger relief and nutrition education services to children living in Orange County, North Carolina. On their website, they provide a number of resources including nutrition education worksheets and handouts, as well as simple recipes that can be made at home.

The Nutrition Coalition is a student organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles both on campus and in the surrounding Chapel Hill community through volunteer, social, and educational activities. They frequently host guest speakers who are experts in nutritional wellness and serve the community through partnerships with other local efforts.

Food For Students is a program through the CHCCS Child Nutrition department with a mission to provide food and fun to kids in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Food for Students works year-round to provide students with free/reduced nutritious meals. Check out their website to learn more about where and when students can receive these meals.
