Physical Wellness
The Boys & Girls Club offers after-school and summer camp programs for community youth centered around developing life skills and achieving academic success. Both the after-school program and summer camp offer youth opportunities to engage in sports, fitness, and recreation and learn health and life skills. Youth in the community may apply for scholarships to become a member of the Boys & Girls Club, and the club is accessible to both English and Spanish speakers.
Duke Med Elementary’s mission is to teach local elementary students how to make healthy lifestyle choices through science-based educational programs focused on the cardiovascular system, the gastrointestinal system, exercise, and nutrition. The ultimate goal is to reduce childhood obesity while nurturing interest in the health sciences and the pursuit of higher education. Of course, we want it all to be fun!
Peer Advocacy for Sexual Health (PASH) is Duke University’s peer-run Sexual Health Resource Center. We are a group of students passionate about improving sexual health at Duke. Our goal is to do this by empowering our peers with knowledge they need to engage in healthy sexual interactions and encouraging non-judgmental discourse on a variety of sexual health topics such as STI prevention, birth control, sexual pleasure and sexual relationships.
Girls on the Run in the Triangle is a local branch of a national organization that focuses on the connection between mind and body. They use research-based lessons and accessible physical activity to instill confidence and nurture care and compassion in every girl.
The Healthy Durham Obesity and Chronic Illness Committee seeks to provide a community-based approach to the increasingly prevalent problem of obesity. All meetings are open to the public. List of resources and past accomplishments can be found on their website.

F3 Nation is a national network that comprises of over 2500 free, peer-led workouts across the country. The mission of F3 is to form workout groups for men and promote community leadership and values. The workouts are open to any male free of charge and can be found by clicking on the location page on their website.
FiA stands for Females in Action and aims to build a community of women dedicated to promoting physical wellness and strong community values. FiA workouts are free to all women and can be found on the location page of the FiA website.
